HEALTHCARE WITH KINDNESS
Perimenopause and Menopause Telehealth Care for Women Across New Mexico
Do You Have These Symptoms?
Perimenopause and menopause can affect many systems in the body, and symptoms often show up in ways that are both familiar and unexpected. While some changes are widely recognized, others are more subtle and can easily be overlooked or attributed to stress, aging, or lifestyle factors.
You may be experiencing hormonal changes if you notice:
Hot flashes or sudden waves of heat, often accompanied by flushing or sweating
Night sweats, including waking up drenched in sweat or needing to change sleep clothes or bedding
New or worsening sleep maintenance insomnia (waking between 2–4 AM and struggling to fall back asleep)
Anxiety spikes or panic-like symptoms that feel new or out of character
Cyclical mood changes or increased emotional sensitivity that doesn’t follow a predictable pattern
Increased sensitivity to stress, caffeine, or alcohol compared to earlier in life
Cognitive changes such as brain fog, word-finding difficulty, or reduced multitasking ability
Heart palpitations or awareness of a racing or irregular heartbeat, especially at rest or at night
Internal restlessness or a persistent feeling of being “wired but tired”
Joint pain or body aches without clear injury or overuse
Changes in exercise tolerance or recovery time, even when activity levels haven’t changed
Menstrual cycle changes, including shorter cycles, skipped cycles, heavier or lighter bleeding, or new irregularity
Vaginal and urinary changes, such as dryness, irritation, discomfort with intercourse, urgency, or increased urinary frequency
Changes in body composition, including increased abdominal fat or loss of muscle tone despite unchanged habits
Libido changes, including decreased desire or changes in arousal or sexual satisfaction
Skin and hair changes, such as dryness, thinning hair, or reduced skin elasticity
These symptoms may occur gradually or in clusters, and they can appear even when standard lab work is still within normal range. A detailed evaluation of symptoms, health history, and hormonal patterns is often needed to determine whether perimenopause or menopause is contributing—and what treatment options may help.
Telemedicine for Menopause & Perimenopause Care
Hi, I’m Marissa Cortes Mendez, Board Certified Nurse Midwife, Family Nurse Practitioner and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner serving Women Across New Mexico.
Why Work With a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP)?
Menopause is a natural stage of life, but the symptoms and health changes that accompany it can have a significant impact on how you feel each day. Hot flashes, sleep disturbances, mood changes, brain fog, weight gain, low libido, and vaginal dryness are common concerns, yet many women find it difficult to access providers with specialized training in menopause care.
A Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) has completed advanced training and demonstrated expertise in the evidence-based management of perimenopause and menopause. This certification reflects specialized knowledge in hormone therapy, symptom management, bone health, sexual health, cardiovascular health, and the unique concerns women face during midlife. Working with an MSCP helps ensure that your treatment recommendations are guided by the latest menopause research and clinical guidelines.
Telehealth Menopause Care for Women Across New Mexico
Telehealth is an excellent fit for menopause care because most concerns can be thoroughly evaluated through a detailed health history, symptom assessment, and review of laboratory testing when appropriate. Virtual visits allow women throughout New Mexico to access specialized menopause care without the time and expense of travel, making expert care available whether you live in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe, Taos, Roswell, Las Cruces, Los Alamos, Farmington, or a rural community.
As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, I provide personalized, evidence-based care focused exclusively on helping women navigate perimenopause and menopause. Treatment plans are tailored to your individual needs and may include hormone therapy, non-hormonal treatment options, lifestyle recommendations, and ongoing support to help you feel your best during this transition and beyond.
My goal is simple: to provide compassionate, accessible menopause care that helps women feel informed, supported, and empowered at every stage of midlife.
Personalized Menopause Care
Every woman's experience with perimenopause and menopause is unique. Some women struggle with hot flashes and sleep disruption, while others are more affected by mood changes, brain fog, weight gain, low libido, or vaginal dryness. That's why a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works.
I take the time to understand your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and personal goals to create an individualized treatment plan that fits your needs.
